Meet our Coach - Amanda Clinton
Amanda started skating at 2 years old but didn’t take up skating seriously until she turned 10. She competed in solo dance competitions from the age of 17 through to 20, competing in Intermediates in the first year and Seniors in the next two years.
Amanda qualified for the British Solo Ice Dance Championships in 2003, 2004 and 2005 and also competed in Scottish Championships in 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005. During this time she skated with the Moray Dolphins until 2006 when she then took over the coaching of the teams in Inverness.
At the age of 17, she qualified as a level 2 coach and started coaching when she turned 18. She represented Inverness at all competitions she took part in, and also skated in Aberdeen and Sheffield and then had a coach from Dundee.
As a coach, Amanda covers all disciplines – free, dance and synchro. She has taken a number of skaters to different Open Championships over the last 10 years including British Solo Dance Championships, Scottish Championships, and British and International Synchro events. In 2011 she won Development Coach of the year for Highlands & Islands and has been nominated twice for Young Coach of the Year by the British Ice Teachers Association. Being a National Technical Specialist for synchronized skating, she is being put forward to sit her International exam in 2014.
